Acne Scars Reduction

Acne Scars Reduction In Dwarka

What are Acne Scars

When oil glands are clogged by bacteria, dead skin cells, and excess oil formed by the glands, they result in the formation of acne. After the healing of these acne, they sometimes leave scars because of the associated inflammation/ infection or because of repeated picking of acne and black heads/white heads by the patient themselves and then these are known as acne scars. They mostly appear as shallow to deep depressions resulting in unpleasant texture/uneven color.

Treatment options for acne scars

Superficial acne marks can be treated by medicinal treatment and other cosmetic therapies like Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels. However deep acne scars require specific treatments for the reduction of their appearance.

Dermaheal Skin and Hair Clinic offers

  • CO2 Fractional Laser Therapy
  • Micro-needling with PRP

Micro-Needling with PRP (PLATELET RICH PLASMA)

Micro-needling with PRP is also called as Collagen Induction Therapy. It is the latest cosmetic advancement that aims to reduce the appearance of acne marksinjury scars and fine lines, instilling a rejuvenated and smoother texture to the face. Microneedling with PRP can also be done to instill a glowing texture, this procedure is popularly known as Vampire Facial.

Microneedling with PRP effectively helps to dull the appearance of stretch marks and to uniform the uneven skin tone.

About The Procedure

  • Micro needling with PRP involves the insertion of very short and fine needles into the skin which creates micro-punctures. Intentional breaches in the scar tissues are  made with the help of needle so that when the skin tries to heal, it results in the boost of good collagen. It is a minimally invasive procedure.
  • Before starting the procedure, a numbing cream is applied on face to make the procedure easily tolerable for the patients. Patient will feel pinprick sensation during microneedling.
  • PRP is a natural way of skin rejuvenation as patient’s own blood sample is taken, out of which platelet rich plasma is segregated through centrifugation. This PRP solution is injected as well as massaged onto the skin after microneedling for better absorption.
  • At Dermaheal Skin and Hair Clinic, GFC ( Growth Factor Concentrate ) which is the most advanced kit, is used for PRP that activates platelet and releases growth factors.
  • When microneedling is combined with PRP, it increases its efficacy in collagen induction and improves the appearance of scars.
  • Usually 4-6 sessions are required, scheduled at an interval of one and half to two months.
  • Recovery period is generally short (1-2 days), however patient may experience slighttenderness and redness immediately after the procedure.

Fractional CO2 LASER

The Carbon Dioxide (C02) Fractional Laser
Resurfacing removes layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method (columns of skin are removed, leaving the skin surrounding each column intact to aid in healing) to help reduce “age-spots” (also called sun freckles, liver spots, and lentigines), fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, uneven coloration, skin laxity, textural irregularities, dull tone, and a thinned collagen layer of the face, neck, and chest but it is most commonly used and is the gold standard treatment for Acne Scars.

Sessions Required

Approximately 4-6 sessions, scheduled at an interval of one and a half months, are required. However, the total number of sessions may increase depending upon the depth of the scars.

What to expect from the treatment

Approximately 60-70% improvement in the visibility of acne scars is expected after 6 sessions. The improvements can be enhanced by increasing the number of sessions. No technology can erase acne scars by 100%.
