What is Hair Transplant?

• A hair transplant is a surgical procedure performed to address hair loss or thinning. The primary goal of the procedure is to redistribute hair follicles from areas of the scalp with ample hair growth (donor site) to areas where hair is thinning or absent (recipient site). The procedure is commonly used to treat male pattern baldness but can also be applicable for other types of hair loss.

What is PRP?

PRP therapy, also known as Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy is the same as vampire face lift which is done on the face to help reduce lines, wrinkles and acne scars and also helps build collagen. The procedure involves drawing out one’s own blood and centrifuging it so that the plasma with platelets collects in the tube. This plasma rich in platelets and growth factors is very useful in tissue regeneration and healing. It is then injected on the scalp in the areas which suffer from hair loss.

• In FUE, follicular units are extracted from the donor site where hair volume is sufficient (mostly, backside of the head), these follicles are then transferred one by one to the recipient area. Extraction can also be done from other sites like beard hair, chest hair
• The advantage of this procedure over other surgical methods of hair transplant (flap surgery, scalp reduction etc.) is that it does not require making any incision or cuts as the extraction is done by automated micro-punching directly, which eliminates the chances of scars and stiches.
• The whole surgery typically may take up to 4-8 hours, patient remains fully conscious during the surgery.
• Local injection is given only on the scalp so as to make the procedure pain free for the patient.
• Restored hair follicles begin to grow and falls off after a few days, initiating growth of new hair after 4-6 months which then continue to grow normally.
• Patient may resume to his normal schedule just 24 hours after the surgery.
• The regrown hair post- surgery can be restyled according to patient’s will.
